Britain's canal network is home to
a host of wildlife with many adjacent sites being designated as Sites of
Special Scientific Interest (SSSl's). For this reason our barge holidays
are also ideal for those interested in nature. Highlighted on the route
pages above you will find just a small selection of nature reserves and
country parks near to the waterways network.
With the canal system winding itself
through the Idyllic English countryside the adjacent towpaths provide an
ideal opportunity for both walking and cycling*. Many towpaths also lead
onto public rights of way enabling circular walks to be completed, just
use our boat as moving base!

* If cycling on British Waterways owned
towpaths a bicycle permit will be required.
